Although some progress has been made to stop Iranian ships that are transporting WMDs, a new U.S. report details how Iran is exploiting the weaknesses of UN sanctions to keep many ships in operation. It’s a cat-and-mouse game, with Iran hoisting false flags on its ships to keep them in service while top officials in the United States work to block them. Evading U.S., EU, and UN trade sanctions will allow Iran to advance its WMD programs and also earn hard currency by selling weapons.
