Thursday, 18 October 2018 11:38 AM EDT

MADRID (AP) — Police in Spain say they have seized more than 115 properties as they dismantled a network that allegedly purchased real estate in Spain to launder illicit money from former officials in Venezuela.

The National Police said Thursday that four people have been arrested in Madrid and international arrest warrants have been issued for three more people in the case.

Police said the seized properties were valued at 60 million euros ($68.9 million) and included a hotel, dozens of apartments and a development with 60 luxury villas in the southern beach resort of Marbella.

The police statement said the main suspect in the case is being investigated in the United States for allegedly laundering more than $1.3 billion obtained through bribes in public contracts.
