Former Florida congressman Allen West said he wouldn’t be surprised if China has placed a target on Taiwan, during a Thursday appearance on Newsmax TV.
West told host John Bachman of "Newsmax Now" that China scooped into Hong Kong because “they believe that everyone in the world is so focused on the COVID-19 issue that they have created themselves.”
“Without a doubt we know that China has completely violated the treaty and agreement that Hong Kong was supposed to have 50 years of independence,” West said, adding he wouldn't be surprised if Taiwan was next.
West said the president and secretary of start should build a “coalition of countries” that want to put both diplomatic and economic pressures on China.
“We should revoke their most favored nation trade status,” he said. “We have got to start sending a message back to Beijing.”
West’s appearance came just days after he was released from the hospital after he was involved in a motorcycle accident over the weekend.
He said he was going about 75 mph on his motorcycle when someone cut him off and clipped his bike.
“I shouldn’t be here,” he said. “I am so thankful to be here.”
