WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Poland's deputy foreign minister says the wording of a report by an international human rights commission on recent legislative changes in Poland has been toned down but is still unfavorable for the country.

Poland's government had requested the opinion of the Venice Commission, a body of legislative experts, hoping to get support in the political conflict with the opposition surrounding the changes the government introduced to the rules governing the Constitutional Tribunal. A leaked draft of the report was strongly critical of the government, prompting declarations from cabinet members that it will be challenged.

The commission will present the final report later Friday. Konrad Szymanski, who has seen it, said the language has been toned down but it's still "unfavorable for Poland."

He said the government will treat it "seriously."
