COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — The daughter of Norway's King Harald says she is separating from her husband of the past 14 years, Ari Behn.

Princess Martha Louise, fourth in line to the Norwegian throne, says she and Behn have decided "to end the marriage but stay together in parenthood."

Martha Louise says the couple have grown apart and "feel ashamed because we can no longer create the common safe harbor for our children."

The royal household said in a statement Friday that the couple that married in 2002 will share custody over the daughters, aged 13, 11 and 8.

Alongside her royal duties, the 44-year-old princess has written books in which she claimed having contacts with angels. Behn is a writer.

Martha Louise's older brother Crown Prince Haakon is the heir to the throne.
