BERLIN (AP) — Police in southern Germany say a third black box has been recovered from the wreckage of two trains involved in a fatal head-on crash.

Eleven people died and scores were injured, some seriously, when the commuter trains slammed into each other at speed Tuesday near Bad Aibling, 60 kilometers (40 miles) southeast of Munich.

Police said Friday they've found the missing black box for the train coming from Bad Aibling. It is damaged, but attempts will be made to extract the data. Data from two other black boxes have so far provided no indication of human error.

The German news weekly Der Spiegel reported Friday that a train dispatcher tried to reach the train drivers shortly before the crash using an emergency network. That report couldn't immediately be confirmed.
