UK's Johnson: Court Ruling Won't Hurt Brexit Timetable

BERLIN (AP) — Britain's foreign secretary says he doesn't think the court ruling requiring a greater say for British lawmakers as the country leaves the European Union will derail the government's exit timetable.

Boris Johnson, making his first bilateral visit to Germany since taking office, on Friday described Britain's planned EU exit as a "huge opportunity" and said "with the right spirit, I believe we can turn these negotiations into a win-win discussion."

Johnson cautioned against reading too much into Thursday's High Court ruling that the British government needs Parliament's approval before formally triggering talks on leaving the EU.

He says "it's very important to recognize that the British people voted to leave the European Union" and adds "I don't think it will interfere with the timetable for that process."
