Police at Google's Paris Office after Reports of Tax Raid

Tuesday, 24 May 2016 09:28 AM EDT

PARIS (AP) — An Associated Press reporter has seen police officers at Google's headquarters in Paris following reports of a massive tax raid targeting the search engine-and-email company.

French daily Le Parisien on Tuesday reported that more than 100 tax and police detectives had participated in a dawn raid at the Silicon Valley giant's offices in Paris.

The paper did not identify its sources. Messages left with French police and finance officials and Google representatives in the French capital were not immediately returned.

The complex tax arrangements of Google and other tech firms have come under increasing scrutiny across Europe.
