PRAGUE (AP) — Hungary's "It's Not the Time of My Life" has won the top prize at the 51st edition of an international film festival in the Czech spa town of Karlovy Vary.

Director Szabolcs Hajdu's movie follows two families that happen to temporarily share an unusual apartment. The organizers say the independent movie was inspired by the work of American director John Cassavetes and Swedish filmmaker Ingmar Bergman.

Hajdu has been known internationally for some of his previous movies, including "White Palms" and "Bibliotheque Pascal."

The winner was chosen among 12 contenders for the Crystal Globe by the festival's five-member grand jury, which included Italian novelist Maurizio Braucci.

Saturday's award also comes with a $25,000 cash prize.
