LONDON (AP) — Queen Elizabeth II's husband Prince Philip has decided to follow medical advice and skip upcoming commemorations to mark the Battle of Jutland.

Buckingham Palace officials said in a statement Monday that the 94-year-old Philip has "reluctantly" decided not to attend the events Tuesday in northeastern Scotland. The statement said Philip was following doctor's advice.

He hasn't cancelled other planned events and isn't known to be ill. He has, however, suffered from heart disease and other ailments and has reduced his public schedule.

Officials say Princess Anne will represent the royal family at the events to mark the World War I battle.

Descendants of those who fought in Jutland have been invited to join the commemorations which will include a service at a cemetery where many service personnel are buried.
