BERLIN (AP) — Austrian police say that more than 100 skiers who are stuck on a broken chairlift in central Austria are being rescued with helicopters.

Styria provincial police tweeted Monday that the lift stopped working because of technical problems and that 100 to 150 people had to be rescued from the Rosenkranz chairlift at Kreischberg mountain north of Klagenfurt.

The Austrian news agency APA reported that three helicopters, mountain rescue teams and other aid groups were involved in the operation.
