Chinese dissident Li Jianxin, who infuriated government officials by posting pictures of their luxury cars on the Internet, is in the hospital following an acid attack earlier this month.
The London Telegraph reported Wednesday that Li, 47, had his car rammed from behind earlier this month. After the collision, three men took him to an industrial park in the southern city of Huizhou, doused him with acid and hacked at him with knives.
A woman in a worker’s dormitory found Li lying on the ground in a pool of his own blood with his six-year-old son crying in his car.
Li’s brother said he was not optimistic the police would find the attackers because the main suspects in the case are from a prominent family with strong political connections.
“My only wish is to see my brother recover,” he said.
Li Jianxin is current scheduled for a second operation to give him an artificial eye and a skin graft. He remains in stable condition at Huizhou Municipal Central Hospital.
