A passenger ferry crashed into Devonport Wharf in Auckland Tuesday, injuring as many as 20 people, New Zealand Police said.
No one appears to be critically injured and the ferry, while damaged, is still afloat, police said in an e-mailed statement. Police, fire and ambulance services are at the scene and about 10 people have been taken to hospital.
“The cause of the collision will be investigated but early indications are that it is the result of a possible mechanical failure,” the police said.
