At least 10 people were killed in two coordinated Islamist car bomb attacks this morning in Niger,
FRANCE 24 reports.
One attack targeted a military barracks in Agadez and the other a nuclear plant in Arlit operated by the Paris-based nuclear firm Areva.
A spokesman for the Movement for Oneness and Jihad in Africa (MUJAO), called the attacks retribution for Niger’s “cooperation with France in the war against Shariah,” referring to Nigerian troops fighting alongside French forces in Mali.
“Thanks to Allah, we have carried out two operations against the enemies of Islam in Niger,” said MUJAO spokesman Abu Walid Sahraoui.
