A schoolboy and a schoolgirl were among six people slain when gunmen ambushed a truck near the Kenya-Somalia border,
BBC News reported Wednesday.
Police said the attack took place late Tuesday in the Mandera district, a sparsely populated area of northeastern Kenya.
The region has been hit by inter-clan fighting as well as attacks by al-Shabaab, a bitter foe of the Kenyan government, which has sent thousands of troops to Somalia to fight that jihadist organization.
Al-Shabaab has staged numerous cross-border raids since Nairobi decided in October 2011 join the 18,000-strong African Union force battling the group.
