White House Intern Faints During Josh Earnest Press Briefing

By    |   Tuesday, 24 June 2014 06:15 PM EDT

It's been a rocky first week for White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest.

At the end of his first official press briefing Monday, he was bombarded with questions about something he mentioned earlier in the presser, and had a tense but brief back-and-forth with one reporter. On Tuesday, nearly an hour into the briefing, a White House intern fainted while Earnest was speaking.

The woman, who did not want her name revealed, was standing along the wall when she suddenly slumped into a person to her right. Ironically, it was her first day at the White House.

"Oh goodness," Earnest said as she collapsed. Moments later, he said, "Why don't we wrap it up and we'll bring some water out here."

ABC News posted video of the incident to its website:
