The White House briefing room underwent a cleaning Wednesday morning after a reporter covering Vice President Kamala Harris had tested positive for COVID-19 during a routine screening of the press pool.
"As soon as we were notified, we disbanded the vice president's pool and sent them home," the White House wrote in a statement, per the New York Post. "They will be tested again [Thursday]. Out of an abundance of caution, we made arrangements for the briefing room to be cleaned."
The reporter was not identified and had not been in contact with Harris or White House staffers.
"We have also begun the process of contact tracing," the statement added. "This individual did not have any contact with the vice president or White House staff."
