La. Walmart Makes ISIS Cake, But Not Cake With Confederate Flag

Chuck Netzhammer, a Louisiana resident, has condemned Walmart for denying him a Confederate flag cake, but making a custom Islamic State battle flag cake for him the next day, ABC News reports.

According to USA Today, Walmart and other large retailers have banned the sale of items promoting the Confederate flag after South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley called for the removal of it from the state's Capitol grounds last week.

In a YouTube video, Netzhammer shows the sheetcake saying, "That's an ISIS battle flag cake that anybody can go buy at Walmart . . . But you can't buy a Confederate flag toy, with like, say, a 'Dukes of Hazzards' car."

ABC News reports that Netzhammer was denied a Confederate flag cake with the words "Heritage Not Hate" on it. But when he returned to the Walmart bakery in Slidell, La., the next day, the flag that represents the Islamic terrorist group was printed without question.

"ISIS happens to be somebody who we're fighting against right now who are killing our men and boys overseas and are beheading Christians," Netzhammer said. "Walmart, can you please explain why you're alienating Southern Americans with this trash that you're allowing being sold at your store while at the same point, Confederate memorabilia is not allowed?" he asks according to USA Today.

John Forrest Ales, a spokesman for Walmart, apologized for the mistake by stating, "Our talented bakery associates take pride in what they create for our customers. It's unfortunate one customer thought to take advantage of an associate who did not know the flag and its meaning.

"This cake should not have been made, and we apologize for the mistake."

Walmart is the world's largest retailer, with nearly 11,000 stores in 28 countries, USA Today reports.
