A Virginia county sheriff’s deputy has been fired after members of the public found “disturbing” posts on the social media site Parler in his name which called for “violent” action against Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts and others.
“Early yesterday our agency was notified about disturbing comments being made on several social media outlets by a deputy sheriff. Sheriff Hill was notified and ordered an Internal Affairs investigation,” wrote the Prince William County Sheriff’s Office in a Facebook post on Saturday. “The investigation has concluded and the deputy has been terminated from employment with our office.”
One of the posts on the platform called for “violent revolutionary action,” and said he was “ready to kill” anyone who tried to make him wear a mask or vaccinate his children against the coronavirus, according to The Daily Mail. Another post commenting on a remark that Roberts has a lifetime seat on the Supreme Court says, "sounds like his life needs to be shortned."
The deputy, Aaron Hoffman, denies that the posts were made by him, but the sheriff’s office says they found no evidence of his Parler account being compromised.
