A supporter of President Donald Trump was punched in the face amid a confrontation with protesters following the president's speech at the Phoenix rally, Mediaite reported.
A few thousand demonstrators showed up around the site of the speech, and after those attending the rally filtered out of the convention center there were some confrontations between the opposing sides, with police trying to manage the crowds.
One scuffle between Trump supporters and protesters was captured on video by New York Times correspondent Simon Romero showing a pickup truck packed with backers of the president arguing with demonstrators at an intersection.
In the video, one of the Trump supporters, a black man, restrains his friend following a shouting match with protesters, saying "it's not worth it," and the friend returns to the driver's seat of the truck while the black man jumps in the bed with two others.
The man at the wheel then appears to drive towards protesters near the vehicle, causing a commotion. As the driver continues on the road slowly, one protester carrying a sign runs up to the vehicle and punches the black man in the face and attempts to do so other times as the truck drives away.
