New York's LaGuardia Airport Reopens After Delta Plane Skid Mishap

By    |   Thursday, 05 March 2015 03:54 PM EST

New York's LaGuardia Airport reopened on Thursday afternoon, after a Delta Air Lines aircraft skidded off a runaway during a snowstorm, forcing the closure of the facility for more than three hours, city officials said.

Port Authority of New York and New Jersey spokesman Joe Pentangelo says the MD-80 went off the runway at around 11:10 a.m. Thursday. The Fire Department of New York says no injuries have been reported.

Photos show the plane in the snow, with its nose appearing to touch a fence. Passengers are getting off the plane and walking through the snow.

It isn't clear how many people were on board or where the flight had originated.
