The doctor who was ripped out of his seat and dragged off a United Airlines flight Sunday evening is already pushing back against the airline in a court filing.
According to NBC News, David Dao — who hired two lawyers on Tuesday — filed an emergency "bill of discovery" that asked United to preserve any and all evidence in the case that has gone viral.
United officials in Chicago said they needed to make room for four non-ticketed airline personnel on the flight, so they asked for volunteers to give up their seats and take a later flight. No one spoke up and names were eventually chosen. Dao and his wife were picked but he refused to get out of his seat.
Dao appeared to strike his face on an arm rest after a security officer ripped him out of his seat, and then he was dragged out of the plane by his arms.
Dao's court filing demands that evidence such as cell phone videos of the incident, airport surveillance videos, cockpit voice recordings, lists of passengers and crew members onboard, and anything else tied to the case be protected for, presumably, a lawsuit.
The 69-year-old Dao and his wife both practice medicine in Kentucky.
It was reported earlier Wednesday that United is issuing refunds to all passengers onboard Sunday's Flight 341 from Chicago to Louisville.
