President Donald Trump's tweet that said he tested positive for the coronavirus garnered more shares and likes than any other tweet he has posted.
It was reported Thursday evening that Trump aide Hope Hicks came down with COVID-19 and that Trump and first lady Melania Trump were tested. Shortly before 1 a.m. ET, Trump tweeted the results:
"Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!"
Axios pointed out that as of 5:30 a.m., the tweet had more than 273,000 retweets and 344,000 quote tweets, which means it was his most shared tweet ever.
As of 7:15 a.m., the tweet had more than 315,000 retweets and more than 392,000 quote tweets. The more than 1 million likes were also a record for him.
According to Axios, Trump's previous record-setting tweet was his post in 2019 that announced rapper A$AP Rocky had been released from prison.
