The Trump Organization filed a hasty — and late — annual registration for Trump Tower with the city of New York Tuesday after NBC News reported that it called to inquire about the lapse.
Shortly after the call from the news outlet, the Trump Organization sent the required 2017 paperwork to the city's Department of Housing & Preservation, NBC News reported.
"This was an inadvertent clerical error that has since been remedied," a spokesperson for the Trump Organization said, NBC News reported.
The umbrella corporation for President Donald Trump's holdings owns the skyscraper on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, and is headquartered there. The tower is also the Manhattan home of the president and first lady Melania Trump along with son, Barron.
Failure to renew the annual registration can result in a fine of up to $500, and revokes some of the rights usually enjoyed by property owners, NBC News reported.
