Michelle Obama's office moved to stop publication of photos taken by paparazzi of daughter Malia Obama,
TMZ reported.
Malia Obama, 16, who is
working as an intern this summer for actress Halle Berry's new TV show "Extant," had gone with friends and her Secret Service protection to Gjelina, a Venice, California, location often frequented by celebrities and the photographers who take their pictures, TMZ said.
The photographer sent the photos to the AKM-GSI agency to sell, and the agency posted the photos on its website for media outlets to buy. Several hours later, Michelle Obama's office called AKM-GSI and asked it to remove the photographs from its website, delete them from its files and not offer them for sale.
TMZ said sources told it that the first lady's office told the agency that it has promises from media outlets that they will not photograph either Malia or Sasha when they are not accompanied by President Barack Obama.
AKM-GSI agreed to stop publication of the photographs, sending out an email with the subject line "URGENT SET KILL NOTICE," and reading "Please delete the set of Malia Obama from your archive. The set was sent around earlier today. We cannot distribute this set," TMZ reported.
Malia Obama's summer job as an intern has the Sidwell Friends School student doing the duties other such young workers on a TV crew do, including "going on runs for coffee and drinks for the cast like every other no-name peon," a source
told TMZ in June.
The eldest Obama daughter has constant Secret Service protection on the set, but sources told TMZ they give her space and she does not use her famous name to try to impress people.
In "Extant," the Oscar-winning Berry plays an astronaut who returns home from a year-long solo mission in space to find that her experiences off the planet lead to events that will change the course of human history.
