Apple's CEO Tim Cook says fake news is a major problem facing consumers.

In an interview on "Good Morning Britain," Cook concedes: "It is not something that has a simple solution."

"This is one of today's chief problems," he said. "We have to give the consumer tools to help with this and we've got to filter out part of it before it ever gets there without losing the great openness of the internet."

The Hill reports Cook did not elaborate on how his company, which owns its own news aggregator product Apple News, would fight against fake news.

The website notes Cook was on a European tour that has included meeting with U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May and London Mayor Sadiq Khan.
