A teacher who said she was a Trump voter, a Second Amendment supporter, and opposed to gun control is now calling for "action" to get "guns out of the hands of these children," after holing up 65 students from Wednesday's Florida school shooter.

"There's no reason at all to have these weapons available to people – none," Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School culinary teacher Ashley Kurth, 34, told The Daily Beast.

Kurth has rejected notions gun control would have prevented past mass shootings, but now she is convinced otherwise, according to the report.

"If this child did not have access to something like this, it would not have ended the way that it did," she told TDB. "And that's what we need to stop."

Empty condolences for victims by lawmakers needs to be replaced by action and legislation, she reportedly said.

"We're tired of the 'we're sorry for your loss,' 'we're praying for you,' 'we're doing all these things,'" Kurth told TDB on Friday. "But nothing is physically being done.

"As educators, we're taught that actions speak louder than words. And that's what our community and all of us are crying out for: Actions need to take place to stop this from happening."

Kurth added an impassioned plea for the president she voted for to combine actions on mental health and gun law.

"Please stop making it a mental illness issue and acknowledge the fact that it is both a gun and mental illness issue," Kurth told TDB. "He needs to physically get these parties to come together to put into legislation to get these guns out of the hands of these children."
