A Southwest Airlines plane backed into an empty JetBlue aircraft on the tarmac of Logan International Airport in Boston on Monday.
"At 7:08 this morning, a Southwest aircraft was pushing back from the gate when the wingtip struck the horizontal stabilizer of an empty, parked JetBlue aircraft," MassPort said in a statement. "There were no injuries and no impact to airport operations."
The Southwest plane was leaving for Kansas City, Missouri, when it struck the JetBlue airplane,
WBZ reported.
"We had just boarded the plane, and the plane was backing out, and we felt a little bump," said one Southwest passenger who was not identified by WBZ. "Next thing I knew, the man beside me said, 'Oh, we're missing a wing.'"
Southwest released a statement that the passengers heading to Kansas City were being booked on other flights, while "the aircraft is out of service for repair and inspections."
