One person was killed and two others injured in a shooting near Penn Station, the key intercity railway hub in New York City, early on Monday, police said.
All three victims were males and no information was available on the shooter or shooters or their whereabouts, New York police officer Christopher Pisano said.
The two who were injured were in serious condition and taken to Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan, New York fire department spokesman Michael Parrella said.
Investigators did not know what prompted the gunfire at 6:14 a.m. ET (1114 GMT) at the intersection of West 35th Street and 8th Avenue, Pisano said.
Fox News said the shooting occurred in a subway station. Streets in the area were closed due to the investigation, police said on Twitter.
Penn Station in Manhattan is a major railway center where Amtrak and most commuter train lines converge.
