Obama Caught in UN Selfie Storm

Thursday, 25 September 2014 02:02 PM EDT

President Barack Obama caused a flap at the United Nations for taking selfies while he should have been listening to a delegate during a meeting on the Islamic State terrorism crisis, according to The Washington Times.

A delegate called for Obama to respond to a question, and then called again when he did not react. A news clip video of the incident then showed Obama with a couple of women, followed by a comment from the delegate making a joke about Obama taking selfies, the newspaper said.

Last year Obama was slammed for taking selfies with other world leaders while attending the funeral of Nelson Mandela in South Africa.

At the U.N., Obama was also criticized by several people online for making strange facial expressions and posing in an oversized chair before his speech. They said he looked less-than-presidential, according to the Times citing the website Twitchy.

"I'm the president, bring my sippy cup," one person wrote, referring to an image of Obama's edge-of-seat pose in the massive chair.

And another wrote about the same photo:
