Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin issued a Memorial Day message to her followers saying that every American should be "outraged" by the Veterans Affairs scandal.
On her
Facebook page, Palin thanked veterans for their service and then said vets should receive the healthcare they deserve and "paid for" while members of the armed forces.
"Please remember our active veterans today as well as those who have fallen," wrote the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee.
"Every American should feel outrage at any injustice done to our veterans seeking what was promised them when they volunteered to defend the homeland.
"They are owed the healthcare they have already paid for. Friends, be determined to right the wrongs our vets face today."
Palin referred to the treatment of veterans across the country after reports that 40 vets died while on a secret waiting list at a VA hospital in Phoenix.
The scandal has spread to at least two dozen other VA health facilities, and the Obama administration has come under pressure to fire Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki.
Palin also said in her message that veterans "are more than just names on gravestones in national cemeteries and battlefields."
