Two accountants responsible for the Best Picture bungle on this Sunday's Oscars telecast will not be working on next year's Academy Awards show.
Cheryl Boone Isaacs, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, said PwC accountants Brian Cullinan and Martha Ruiz – who were responsible for the winners' envelopes at Sunday's Oscar show – will not be working on next year's telecast, and the Academy's relationship with the accounting firm is under review, the Associated Press first reported.
According to The Wrap, and The Hollywood Reporter, Cullinan, a 32-year veteran of the accounting firm formerly known as Pricewaterhousecoopers, had worked on the Academy Awards for four years but shouldered much of the blame for handing the wrong envelope to presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway.
That resulted in "La La Land" incorrectly being announced as Best Picture instead of actual winner "Moonlight."
Cullinan might have been distracted by social media — just a few minutes before the mishap, he tweeted a photo of Best Actress winner Emma Stone, who won the golden statuette for her performance in "La La Land."
