Ohio University students are demanding the name of disgraced former Fox News chairman Roger Ailes be yanked from its media building.
Ailes, a 1962 Ohio University graduate, was ousted from his longtime throne at Fox News following a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by former anchor Gretchen Carlson. It was settled for $20 million and an apology from the company, but other former employees accused Ailes of similar behavior.
Ohio University's Graduate Student Senate last week voted unanimously to ask the school to rename the "Roger E. Ailes Newsroom" — christened that after he donated $500,000 towards its renovation in 2007, The College Fix reports.
Student Senate President Ian Armstrong said in a letter to Ohio University President Roderick McDavis that Ailes' alleged actions are against the school's sexual misconduct policy and "his name should be removed immediately from the WOUB Newsroom."
A local chapter of the International Socialist Organization, which includes Ohio University students, said on its Facebook page it is organizing a campaign to make the university cut ties with Ailes and "prioritize support for survivors on campus over celebrating their millionaire donors."
Ailes has repeatedly denied all of the allegations against him.
