There has been a sharp rise in anti-Semitic incidents and other hate crimes in New York City this year, police said Wednesday.

According to the New York Daily News, Capt. Mark Molinari — who leads the NYPD's Hate Crime Task Force — said there have been 67 anti-Semitic incidents in 2017. Last year at this time, there were 24.

Overall, 113 hate crimes have been committed in the city's five boroughs this year. The total for all of 2016 was 375.

"The NYPD will not condone anyone in New York City attacking or harassing someone because of their faith," NYPD Commissioner James O'Neill said, reports the Daily News.

There have been several incidents this year in which bomb threats have been called into Jewish community centers. Forty-eight centers received such threats in January, and more than 50 have been called into Jewish community centers in 2017.
