Mother of Slain NYPD Officer: Bring Back Stop-and-Frisk
"Good Day New York."

The mother of a New York City police officer agrees with former Mayor Rudy Giuliani: Bring back stop-and-frisk.

Princess Holder appealed to liberal Mayor Bill de Blasio to reconsider the limits on the controversial policy just hours after her son, Officer Randolph Holder, was fatally shot early Wednesday, telling Fox affiliate WNYW:

"I think Mayor de Blasio should reconsider this stop-and-frisk because I think it's going to be a deterrent to these thugs who go around taking innocent people's lives."

On "Good Day New York," Giuliani argued the policy is both constitutional and necessary.

"The reality is stop-and-frisk is completely constitutional," he says, arguing an appeal was never heard on the original court ruling that banned the practice because "de Blasio withdrew the appeal."

"Stop-and-frisk … takes guns out of the hands of bad guys," Giuliani says. "Gun control doesn't take guns out of the hands of bad guys."

Holder is the fourth officer killed in the line of duty since December.

The New York Post reports Brooklyn state Assemblyman William Colton, a Democrat who receives backing from the Working Families Party, also is questioning the abandonment of the policy.

"Since the latest restrictions on stop-and-frisk by the city administration and the courts, the rate of police officer deaths by gunfire went up significantly," Colton said, the Post reports.

"This shows that respect for police authority is fading and criminals are getting more brazen. We need city leaders to step up and establish strong policies to remove guns from the hands of criminals — not to strip police officers of authority and undermine community respect for professional police activities."
