The National Hurricane Center is denying it took a sly swipe at President Donald Trump with its warning about an upcoming storm.
The federal agency dubbed growing meteorological disturbance in the Atlantic "Tropical Storm Don" and added that Don is "small," "not particularly organized" and likely to peter out in the next few days.
Labeling Don "small" raises memories of when Sen. Marco Rubio mocked the size of Trump's private parts during a GOP presidential debate last year.
"Have you seen his hands? And you know what they say about men with small hands," Rubio joked, prompting Trump to quickly insist: "There's no problem. I guarantee."
The National Hurricane Center's predictions about Tropical Storm Don quickly set off a tweet storm poking fun at the commander in chief:
But Max Mayfield, the former National Hurricane Center director whose committee added the name Don to the storm list, told The Associated Press: "I guarantee you that it has no connection to Donald Trump."
He said the name was added to the storm list in 2006 and is in a rotation. The National Hurricane Center used the name Don for another tropical storm in 2011, but that one died at sea.
The current warning is issued for Grenada, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and St. Lucia.
