Dick Morris, an adviser to President Donald Trump, told Newsmax Friday the American people understand what’s at stake in the war with Iran.
"What's fascinating about this war is … that normally it's a knee-jerk reaction that when gas prices go up, poll numbers go down," Morris told “Rob Schmitt Tonight." "There's a feeling that all over the place there's a major crisis and that the president has failed to respond to it, but not in this case."
"In this case, his numbers have not been affected by the war, have not been affected by the growing concern about [gas prices]," Morris added.
"There seems to be in the public an understanding that this is a long-term process," Morris continued.
Morris said the Iran war won’t be solved in a matter of weeks due to the appeasement of the country by past presidential administrations for years.
"I'm struck by the fact that normally when a president, when the gas prices go up, the poll numbers go down, but not in this case," Morris said. "People really seem to understand what's going on and to understand the role of the Biden administration and previous presidents in causing this."
