GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump may have done more harm than good by hosting "Saturday Night Live" over the weekend, says conservative talk show host Michael Medved.
Appearing Sunday on
CNN's "Reliable Sources," Medved said the funniest sketch was the one where Trump is portraying himself as president in the future. A Trump presidency is played for laughs, which isn't good, he said.
"When you're treating the idea of Trump in the Oval Office as a joke, and they were, I don't think that helps his credibility at a time when he's trying to move into the mainstream as a serious candidate," Medved told host Brian Stelter.
And the final sketch of the show featured two former porn stars attempting to get a free stay at a Trump hotel by crafting a political ad for him. Their attempt is far off acceptability, and Trump even appears at the end saying he "in no way" endorses the content of the ad.
Still, Medved said, Trump needs evangelical voters to win the nomination, and such an "R-rated" sketch won't help him.
