Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., said his office is working to make sure those putting together relief efforts for the hurricane-ravaged Bahamas are put in touch with the right people.
His comments came in three Tuesday tweets as Hurricane Dorian moved away from the islands.
Rubio wrote: “Great to see so much support in South #Florida for #BahamasRelief. Important that all efforts be part of the coordinated U.S.-Bahamas govt assistance plan to make sure they are getting what they need & in the hands of those who can get it to those who need it.
“1st priority is to secure airport & seaports for delivery & distribution of relief supplies. Many private & non-government organizations collecting aid & offering to deliver. Thank you! We are working to make sure you are connected to the right people in the #Bahamas.”
And he added: @USCG (United States Coast Guard) currently helping evacuate critically injured from the #Bahamas. They will need the all clear hopefully later tonight before additional assets can be sent to assist the Bahamian government.
