A Manhattan club was shut down by New York City officials over the weekend after it violated coronavirus regulations by hosting a party with nearly 400 people, ABC News reported on Sunday.

The New York City Sheriff's Office tweeted that it discovered the party on West 36th Street at about 2:45 a.m. on Saturday, adding that alcohol was being sold at the location, even though it did not have a liquor license.

New York state's emergency coronavirus restrictions limit gatherings to only 10 people, and all "bars, restaurants, gyms and fitness centers, as well as any State Liquor Authority-licensed establishment, must close in-person service from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.," according to ABC News.

The violation comes as New York City is going through a new wave in coronavirus cases and hospitalizations, according to health data, with the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygienc reporting that between November 1-25, the seven-day average of new daily cases spiked from 621 to 1,451 and the seven-day average for daily hospitalizations increased from 46 to 106.

NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio sent out a tweet on Sunday emphasizing how crucial it is to obey the coronavirus guidelines, writing that "We’re going to continue to be guided by facts and data as we fight back against #COVID19 and reopen our city."
