Three late-night television shows are suspending production until at least March 28 amid the coronavirus pandemic, reports The New York Times.
The shows, "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," "The Late Show With Stephen Colber," and "Late Night With Seth Meyers" announced the move Thursday.
The coronavirus, which started in Wuhan, China, has infected more than 130,000 people worldwide and killed more than 4,700.
As of Thursday, there were more than 1,200 cases of COVID-19 in the U.S. and at least 36 deaths in 42 states, per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
"God forbid you stay on the air too long and someone in the building gets hurt by this," Rob Burnett, an executive producer of David Letterman's former late-night show, said in an interview Thursday. "That transcends anything you might be doing on television. It's a very challenging situation."
Seth Meyers in a video posted to Twitter said Thursday's show was canceled and noted guests "with great reason" had decided not to come in.
"We decided to cancel it, and we don't know when we're gonna start doing shows again," he said.
Each of the three shows filmed Thursday without a studio audience.
