Kevin Spacey: Politics Is Performance Art With Bad Actors

By    |   Wednesday, 19 February 2014 11:45 AM EST

Actor Kevin Spacey visited Capitol Hill in preparation for his role in the hit Netflix series "House of Cards," and now talks about the disingenuous nature of the politicians he observed.

"You feel like you're watching performance art most of the time," Spacey said in an appearance on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. "I don't believe them. I don't believe what they say. I don't think they're being absolutely sincere. I think it's performance art. And most of them are bad actors."

The "House of Cards" star said he spent time following Republican House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy of California and Democratic House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer of Maryland.
