Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who has vowed to bring back "law and order," won praise from Jim Pasco, the executive director of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Washington Examiner reports.

"We don't have even a scintilla of apprehension about our relationship with this (Department of Justice) or the commitment of this attorney general," Pasco told the Examiner.

The FOP represents more than 300,000 police officers. It had endorsed Trump during the 2016 campaign, the Examiner notes.

Sessions spoke at the FOP's biennial conference in Nashville last week and announced the administration would allow the federal government to provide surplus military equipment to local police agencies, the Tennessean newspaper reported.

"On behalf of President Trump and the entire Department of Justice, thank you for what you do," Sessions said. "The president is proud to stand with you. We have your back. We back the blue."

The FOP had been pushing to ease the restrictions on the program. Now Pasco said the FOP is anxious to see the White House fill various key positions in the Justice Department.

"We want to work with the Justice Department once they have nominees to get them confirmed," he told the Examiner, which noted the Justice Department has roughly 180 unconfirmed posts.
