Former Vice President Joe Biden said Monday he will end his self-imposed exile in the final week of the presidential campaign and visit Iowa, Wisconsin, Florida, and Georgia.

"I'm going to be going to Iowa, be going to Wisconsin, I'm going to Georgia, I'm going to Florida and maybe other places as well," Biden said at a voter center in Chester, Pennsylvania.

Biden's trip was unplanned as of Monday morning, as Democrats reportedly expressed concern about his absence from the campaign schedule.

His trip to Iowa indicated to The New York Times that Biden was hopeful of "significantly expanding" his electoral map. Trump won the state in 2016 with 51.15% of the vote to Hillary Clinton's 41.74%. Trump was only the second Republican to win the state since Ronald Reagan in 1984.

An average of 10 polls taken over the past month have Biden and President Donald Trump tied with 46.2%, according to 270towin.com.

Biden on Monday predicted he would win Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. Michigan and Wisconsin both voted for Trump in 2016 and Minnesota has not voted for a Republican in a presidential election since Richard Nixon in 1972.

The former vice president's campaign said Biden would travel to Iowa and Wisconsin on Friday, having already announced he would visit Georgia on Tuesday and Florida on Thursday.

"The big difference between us and the reason why it looks like we're not traveling — we're not putting on superspreaders," Biden said, referring to Trump's campaign events.
