More than 40 percent of Americans have never heard of the House Freedom Caucus, a group of conservative lawmakers who have been making waves on Capitol Hill.
The Pew Research Center concluded that 42 percent of U.S. adults have heard "nothing at all" about the Freedom Caucus. Other findings from the survey:
- 39 percent have heard "a little" about the House Freedom Caucus.
- 19 percent have heard "a lot" about the House Freedom Caucus.
- 42 percent of people who identified as Republicans or lean right haven't heard of the group.
- 40 percent of people who identified as Democrats or lean left haven't heard of the group.
The House Freedom Caucus opposed the House GOP's healthcare bill last month, which ultimately led to House Speaker Paul Ryan scraping a planned vote on it because the legislation lacked the support.
The poll was conducted from April 5 to 11, interveiwing 1,501 U.S. adults.
