Limp Bizkit Frontman May Join Russia Passport Seekers

Saturday, 31 October 2015 04:32 PM EDT

The frontman of U.S. rock group Limp Bizkit told a Moscow state-run news service he is interested in getting a Russian passport to spend at least half of his time in the country.

Singer Fred Durst, 45, said he would like Russian as well American citizenship, according to an interview with the Tass news service as the band started a monthlong tour in the country with concerts in Moscow scheduled on Saturday and Sunday. Durst said he feels “something special for Russia” and is thinking of making a movie about the country, Tass reported.

Actor Gerard Depardieu received a Russian passport in 2013 to avoid paying higher taxes in his native France, while U.S. former world-champion boxer Roy Jones Jr. was issued a Russian passport in September. Russian President Vladimir Putin offered him citizenship at a meeting in Crimea, the Black Sea peninsula annexed from Ukraine last year. Jones said he would keep his U.S. citizenship.
