A 21-year-old supporter of President Donald Trump, who was wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat, was attacked on the edge of the UC Berkeley campus less than 24 hours after the university was the scene of violent protests.

The assault occurred Thursday when the man, Berkeley student Jack Palkovic, was walking down the street dressed in a suit and the hat.

Video shows an assailant stopped his white SUV in the middle of the intersection, ripped off Palkovic's hat and began to accost him. He was joined by another man.

"I think it's very unfortunate that many people in our community feel like they can attack people for associating themselves with Donald Trump," Palkovic said in a video posted to the Twitter account of Jodi Hernandez, a reporter for KNTV.

The Daily Mail said two men who sparked the assault were arrested. The newspaper also identified Palkovic as a member of the College Republicans and one of those who helped organize the Wednesday appearance of Breitbart News editor Milo Yiannopoulos on campus.

Yiannopoulos' scheduled speaking engagement sparked violent protests on campus, which led to the cancellation of his appearance.
