Donald Trump Jr. defended his father from accusations that he asked former FBI Director James Comey to end the investigation of fired national security adviser Gen. Michael Flynn by retweeting what Fox News contributor Geraldo Rivera had to say on the subject.

Rivera said that Trump hoping Comey would cut Flynn some slack because he is a good man is not close to obstruction.

Some claimed that Trump Jr's tweet was actually confirming the details of Comey's memo that he was asked to end the probe. One example was from This Week, which said that Trump's son implied that "the contents of Comey's memo detailing the Flynn exchange are true," since "Reports of the memo suggest President Trump told Comey that Flynn 'is a good guy,' and so he hoped Comey could 'let this go.'"

Trump Jr. responded to those claims by sending out another tweet to reject the theory.
