The White House Correspondents' Association has postponed its annual dinner, The Hill reported on Sunday.
"The White House Correspondents’ Association regrets to announce that it is unable to go ahead with its 2020 dinner on April 25,” the WHCA declared. “We will get back to you soon with our alternative date.”
The dinner, which was first held in 1921 and raises money for scholarships, was scheduled to take place at the Washington Hilton hotel.
Earlier this month the WHCA said it had still hoped to hold the dinner, but it now joins a long list of other prominent events delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The president had traditionally attended the dinner until Donald Trump entered the White House in 2017, according to Politico.
Trump has refused to attend it and instead has held political rallies on that date. Last year the president ordered administration officials to boycott the dinner, although he had not yet declared whether he was going to go to this year’s event.
