A baby boy and a 2-year-old girl have tested positive for COVID-19 in Broward County, Florida, according to the Florida Department of Health.
The boy's age is listed as "zero," according to The Miami Herald, making him the youngest reported case in the state. Health records listed "unknown" as to whether his contraction of the virus is travel related. The same was true of the 2-year-old.
As of Tuesday morning, Broward had 311 cases, the second highest in the state behind Miami-Dade at 338.
The baby could be the 7-month-old son of ER nurse Herine Baron, who reported she was infected with coronavirus at her job, the Herald reported. Baron also said her son has tested positive.
"According to the doctors, they told me that for babies, they’re able to fight it off more better than an adult," Baron said in a video she posted online. "My son is asymptomatic. He's not showing any signs that I’ve been having."
Though children and young adults contract COVID-19, in most cases they have had no symptoms or have had mild cases, according to health officials.
